The norm is for 55% of activity to be reactive, 30% preventive and 15% predictive/proactive. The SMRP (Society of Maintenance & Reliability Professionals) in the US have suggested that the top quartile of performers have the following breakdown of maintenance activity;

• 30% Preventive
• 50% Predictive/Proactive
